DIY {Chevron Treat Bag Advent Calendar}

Not only did our elves arrive today, but Advent also begins today! Our elves worked very hard while the kids were at school so that they could present them with an Advent calendar upon their arrival home.

Since we don’t want to lose site of the REAL reason for Christmas, Christ’s birth, I thought that it would be great to use the Advent calendar to share Bible verses, Bible stories, etc…

Our fireplace is already adorned with stockings. And, besides that, we actually use it for fires–go figure!!! :) I had to be creative about where I was going to hang an advent calendar and decided to utilize a bookshelf in our family room.

Each day has a red and white chevron striped treat bag (from Lemon Drop Shop) folded over a string of ribbon and sealed with a stamp numbered, scalloped, circle punch that coordinates with the elf stationary I’m using—errrr, I mean the elves are using. The ribbon is a gorgeous grass green grosgrain.

What do you think? I think they are going to love it!!!

Those sneaky little elves…
