InstaFriday

I am going to try a new format this week. I don’t know about you, but I get a little weary of scrolling down and down and down. I thought I’d try a collage. What do you think?

So things got going with a REALLY hot weekend sans my husband. I was not about to take all three little people to the neighborhood pool (which is not zero depth, by the way) for the first time this season by myself and in nearly 100 degree heat. The kids were not at all happy with me. They got the sprinkler out, but H didn’t like it–we can’t figure out if it was the water or the hot blacktop that she didn’t like. At least she looked super cute in her suit! And it was a good thing she had that diaper to hold her suit on.

Sunday night, we picked Caleb up from the airport. While we were waiting in the “cell phone lot” at 8:00 pm, I noticed that the temp was still rediculoulsly high–93! Yuck!

M&M pancakes are a favorite around here. If you don’t know about my M&M problem, you can read about it here. I think the problem is genetic. The kids insist on having me make pancakes with M&Ms. I think maybe I should just give them a bowl of them since there was obviously no interest in the actual pancakes and I wasted precious mommy time!

We pulled out the MagnaDoodle for H and she immediately loved it. Once we got her to keep the little magnet shapes out of her mouth, all was good. She even holds the “pen” right!

A rather large group of ladies went to Houlihans for dinner to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday. Have you had the chicken nachos? Oh. My. Goodness. Several of the ladies went line dancing after dinner, but I’m a total party pooper and went home to bed. I know. Lame. Whatever.

Starbucks. Another problem. You can read about this one here. Let me explain this picture. Yes, there are two lids. The dome lid and the flat lid. Looking at this, I am reminded of my complete and utter 1.) disdain for change, 2.) not having control, and 3.) how extremely particular I am (particular is the nice word for it). We went through the drive through, I ordered the usual beverage and they handed to me with a dome lid. No no no no no. My drink gets a flat lid. But, somehow, they ran out of flat lids. My first instinct was to hand it back and get a refund. But, I knew that would make me really grouchy, so I took the drink making sure that the “partner” (as they call them) knew my disgust–like it was all his fault. If you think that is bad, wait for this! I tried to remember where I threw my cup (and lid) away from the day before. It was at work (2 miles away). Don’t get too grossed out. It’s the trash in my office. No one else uses it. Since I didn’t work on this particular day, I figured no one had emptied my trash from the day before. So, I drove over to work with the two younger kids and went in and pulled the empty cup out of the trash. Yep. I did. I took the lid, got back in the car, swapped the lids, and merrily went on my way! (I even saved the lid after I drank the drink just in case it happens again!) Like I said: PROB-LEM.

Two days of the week, I don’t go into work until late morning. I like to get dressed right when I get up, and I don’t want to have to change before work. So when I get up, I put on my work clothes. Which includes work shoes. Now that it’s nice out, I seem to find myself outside with the littler kids before I leave. This means I’m playing soccer, baseball, etc… in my work shoes. I can tell you that these shoes were not made for play. However, the Sperry Top Siders are another story. I got them for super cheap last fall at the Rack due to the urging of my husband. I knew he was right, that I would regret it if I didn’t get them. But I hadn’t worn them yet! Crazy! I am still getting used to the way they look, but they were really comfy.

Things started off really hot, but ended up very cool–from nearly 100 last weekend to the 50′s today. It was a comfort food kind of day so we had tomato soup and grilled cheese (made with Tillamook cheddar, of course). Yummm…

(OH! In case you wondered, Auden’s egg-speriment was a success! His little box was dropped from the roof of the school and the egg did not break! He was so proud!)
