InstaFriday

Whew! It has been so hot this week! And last week. And it doesn’t look to be getting better for a few mores days. When 87 starts to sound like relief from the heat, you know it must be really hot. We’ve been trying to keep ourselves occupied with indoor activities. Which leads to the first picture!

The necklace. I made it myself! More to come…

This is the park we are having the little man’s party at next week. I was scoping it out. We didn’t get out to play because it was so hot, but I think it will work well next week when it’s only supposed to be in the upper 80′s. Pretty, isn’t it?

Hadley and her friend Alexa were playing a duet. Alexa is just a few days older than Hadley. Aren’t they so cute!?!

Piggies!!!! Finally, I was able to do somethingwith that fine, scraggly hair! She looks like such a big girl!

Caleb and I finally went on a date. We saw “Snow White and the Huntsman” and really enjoyed it. I cracked up when my husband looked at me after the movie and out of no where said, “Oh, the seven dwarfs!!!” — apparently he missed the reference to the story. Super funny. We had dinner at Taco Fresco beforehand. They have the best soft shell corn tortilla tacos and chips/salsa. Very different from other “fast food ” Mexican places. And, they have diet coke and lemonade too which is a total bonus for the both of us.

The old play kitchen was brought up from the basement due to the carbon paper “order” pads that I got for the kids (see last picture). I remember playing restaurant with pads like this when I was a kid and thought that maybe they’d get a kick out of them. They loved them. What a great use of $2! Thanks Wal-Mart! Once we started playing restaurant and taking orders for food, they decided we needed “food” to make it work  so up came the kitchen. Though not taking orders on her own, Hadley quickly took to the kitchen–as I suspected she would. It kept her busy all day. I’m sure it isn’t going to last forever, but I’ll enjoy it while I can.

I’m sure I’ll be glad I documented this moment at some point, but I was not in a very good place when I took it. Auden was sitting outside Claire’s while I was inside (always having him in my sight, of course) with my other two because the oldest had a gift card burning a hole in her pocket. I had just taken Auden into the pajama store where he was allowed to pick one set of jammies. He first found monster truck jammies that he liked. Then he came across dinosaur jammies. He couldn’t decide. I got the trucks. He had a complete meltdown yelling, “I want dino jammies!!!” I told him he couldn’t come into Claire’s until he stopped, so he sat outside the door and continued the rant. A lady even stopped to ask him if he was lost! Not such a good time.

Are you sick of hearing me say how hot it’s been?! Well, the 4th of July was steamy. My parents and I took the kids to a parade in the morning. I felt so bad for all the servicemen in full dress. They must have been dying! It a little odd to watch the emergency vehicles in the parade leave with individuals needing medical treatment due to the heat. Hmmmm…I think if it had been up to me, I would have just cancelled the event. But no one asked me.

Hope you had a happy and refreshing Independence Day!
