WIWW :: I Made It Myself

Somewhere in my blog browsing I came across this necklace. I clicked on it and was delighted to find that it was actually a tutorial – for a “statement ” necklace. I love love love the green beads–the color and the size.

I’ve never made jewelry before, so I was a little intimidated by the idea of making it myself. But I really really liked the necklace. I dragged the kids with me and we went to the store to stock up on the necessary supplies. I had the picture in my head, but when I got home, I realized that my beads were not quite what had been used. I have not been able to find her exact beads–I wish I knew where she got those! They are gorgeous! The supplies were a bit  more expensive than I had hoped, but there is something to be said about the satisfaction of having made it yourself. Right?

Here it is! I think the beads are pretty though not quite as chunky as the original. When purchased, I got three strands, but I could have used more as the length of the beaded portion of the necklace wasn’t quite long enough.
Of course, I immediately dragged the little people back to the store to get another set of beads to try again which, I have yet to do–just the way of things, isn’t it? When I get to it, I promise to share the results. In the meantime, I’m quite proud of my necklace. It’s quite versatile, and I have worn it several times.
It isn’t what I would consider a “statement” necklace, but it’s a nice piece that I enjoy wearing.
