{last minute} Caramel Apple Buffet

I was beating myself up after church on Sunday because I could not come up with a creative snack for our church group that night. So much pressure! (only from myself, of course). I decided on simple caramel dip and sliced apples. But then I could not find that convenient tub of caramel that you always see near the produce. I looked all over Target. I looked all over Dominicks. I finally just bought caramels and decided to make my own.

By the time I got home, my simple, store bought dip idea had evolved into salted caramel dip with various toppings.

It was a success to say the least. Even the homemade caramel–melted caramels with cream and sea salt–was oodles better than the ready-to-eat tub.

This is easy enough to do for your kids for a fun snack but can be as elegant as a dessert buffet feature for a fall wedding.

Yummmm….
